Saint Augustine Parish Church

Commonly known as Dumangas Church, is a Roman Catholic church located in Dumangas, Iloilo, Philippines. It is under the jurisdiction of the Archdiocese of Jaro. The church is considered as the first and oldest Roman Catholic church in Western Visayas.

 The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) declared it a national landmark in 1983. History Founded in 1572, the church was burned down in 1628. It was reconstructed but was destroyed by an earthquake in 1787. 

The church was rebuilt in 1887 and was completed in 1896. It has a Gothic Byzantine architectural style, and is made of red bricks and coral stones. NHCP in 1983 declared the church a national historical landmark.

Sunday Masses are typically in the morning (e.g., 6:30–7:30 AM, 9:00–10:00 AM) and sometimes late afternoon.

🚍 How to Get to Dumangas from Iloilo City

🛣️ Route

Dumangas is about ~29 km from Iloilo City proper, located southeast of the city. 

There are a few common ways to travel there from Iloilo City:

🚌 1. Jeepney / Van via Ticud Terminal

• From Iloilo City, go to Tagbak / La Paz (Ticud) Terminal — common pickup points include near La Paz Plaza or Robinsons Place La Paz area.
• Jeepneys or vans to Dumangas run frequently during the day.
• This is the most budget-friendly option.

Approximate Fares (subject to change):

• Iloilo City → Tagbak/Ticud: ₱15–₱20
• Tagbak/Ticud → Dumangas: ₱40–₱60
• Total land travel (city to Dumangas): ~₱60–₱80 (one way) 

🚕 2. Direct Tricycle / Taxi

• If you want direct transport to Dumangas town center, you can take a tricycle or taxi/ride-hail but this will be more expensive and less common for long distances.

🚲 Local Rides in Dumangas

• From the Dumangas terminal, you may take a tricycle to the church if it’s not within easy walking distance — usually around ₱20–₱40 locally.

🧭 Tips for Travel

• Start early if you plan to attend morning Mass or visit the church before noon.
• Public jeepneys and vans are more frequent between ~5:30 AM and early evening, but can be less frequent at night. 
• Always ask the driver if the vehicle is heading to Dumangas town proper or Dumangas terminal so you get off closest to the church.
